Monday's are probably the worst day of the week. The beginning of a long stressful week. I'm a firm believer in the power of music. I think that the right tune can make the worst of days slightly better. I created a playlist of pick-me-up tunes, which I've been listening to recently (because I sure need it). I hope it will also make your work day (or week) a little more enjoyable. Cheers.

The Start
I guess an introduction to The Minimalist Project is needed, as it is the first entry EVER. So what exactly is The Minimalist Project, you ask. Well, TMP is a site where I'll be chronicling (and sharing) all my interests, thoughts, and travels. To summarize— a Lifestyle and Culture blog. The name of the site is the result of a combination of things that inspire me (which will be reflected in my entries). The first section of the title—(the) minimalist— is an aesthetic reference. Both in art and fashion. When I speak of minimalist (in art) I'm not solely talking about the art movement. Instead I'm talking about reductionism in art, which is a unifying characteristic of a lot of the art styles that I love and which I'll be talking about in this blog. Secondly, my style, which I'll also be documenting in this blog, is influenced by a minimalist aesthetic. I gravitate to pieces that are structured— a bit more masculine. Think Céline meets Rick Owens.
The second section of the title —project—is defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary as: "a planned piece of work that has a specific purpose (such as to find information or to make something new) and that usually requires a lot of time." I decided to use the word Project in the title because this isn't my first time at the rodeo. I've been blogging since 2009— on and off—under different aliases, which have all resulted in major fails. Adding Project to the title is me acknowledging that blogging is not easy. That I must put the time and thought to every entry in order for this blog to succeed. More importantly though, I took the word Project from Judy Chicago's Birth Project. An artists who I admire and who happens to be a feminist. Feminism has been an ideology that I strongly identify with and one of the lenses through which I see the world (which informs my writing). As a women, I hope this blog becomes a space where I can explore and embrace my complexities. Society always wants to compartmentalize people and things. You're either a virgin or a whore, into pop or rock and roll, intelligent or superficial, etc. You know what I say to all of that...FUCK IT. I'm going to continue enjoying Mary Kelly's writing and art while wearing my red lipstick.
Anyways, I thought the best way to wrap up this first entry was to do the 30 random facts about me tag, which I hope will give you all a bit more insight about me.
